Growing up in the very small town of De Pere, WI, I was always eager to move to a city filled with bright lights and late nights. Somewhere that never had a dull moment; filled with activities, diversity and new faces. Though I am the youngest of three in my family, I was the first to ever attend a University. I graduated high school and was accepted into the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and went in as an undeclared major. After taking countless credits in a variety of subjects, I came across the JAMS department at UWM. I researched what the major entitled, and was accepted into the Journalism department my junior year of college. I was passionate about journalism throughout my life, however I looked at it as a hobby, not a career. Shortly after, I began to grow a new appreciation for the art of writing.

I was inspired to write One Step at a Time because of my history with these animals. I was a professional horse rider for the American Paint Horse Association for 10 years and was fortunate enough to be able to show around the United States. I was traveling with other professional riders, as well as my trainer, and we were in a different state almost every weekend. Over the years, I had learned that horses were being intertwined with various therapies across the world. Knowing how ridding horses was a therapy in its own to me throughout my life, I wanted to learn how they are helping others.

I am now a graduate, also the first in my family, of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have obtained a bachelor degree in Print Journalism and am eager to travel the world with it, telling individuals stories one step at time.

The most recent milestone reached for me was being chosen out of countless applicants to be the next Wrangler at Sweet Grass Ranch, located in Big Timber, MT. I will be working with horses and individuals for hours a day while blogging about my experiences. Though this is only a seasonal position, I am beyond excited to see the doors that will be opened for me, and where my next adventure will lead me in life.

Cheers,

Gracie Fay Pasterski
